The Severing, Persevering

I won’t ask when you’ll return.
I sent you north, my best ghost spurned.
The desert you hated surrounds this
Emptiness with empty wind. We won’t
Sit at our wall of windows talking
While snow falls in the streets again.
Or maybe that’s you in the wind.
