Describing the sacred
Experience he’d had
Hiking the Grand Canyon.
In context, it’s easy
To think he intended
Possessive expression—
God’s time like God’s country—
But he means contraction,
Identification.
His awe in the canyon
Impressed him time was God.
Well, God does shift around,
And time’s in all shiftings,
But that’s just measuring
And naming escaping.
