Scarcely overlap
With aspects of partnership,
So that one wonders
If partnership means that much
To the meandering bed
Of fitness finding its way
To the sea. What binds partners
Is the surface attraction,
But what attracts us
Is relentless gravity.
You see? We've got it
All backwards. Invert the trope.
Deep love's bonds are the weakest.
