Do Not Read This Out Loud

I composed these poems
In the ear of the mind, in
The unblinking eye of the mind
Alone with itself like a small

Animal hibernating
Without actually sleeping,
Turning and settling
And turning again,

Half dreamily, half
Restlessly in its nest,
And I expect them
To be best read

Just like that.
