Aliquot

She pulled out a god.
She pulled out these three
Things from this boy's throat:

Wool. The poor. Chastity.
Together they gave her
Opportunity for ecstasy,

The divine communion.
She shaved all her hair,
Wore only horns

And a loincloth, transforming
Herself from a woman
Into an animal capable

Of diving the future.
It did not please her.
It did not give her pleasure.

She knew herself
A part of the things
That must end, again and again,

And found her magic
Insufficient to save the boy,
Herself, belief, the god.
