Virgil

I would happily wake up
In an empty hotel room
In an emptied-out city
Beside a lake or river,
Looking at a look-alike
World never the world I knew.
I would watch from my window

As purpose-free days revolved,
Round contentment without pain.
To the few companions come
To share in my view, I'd say,
I'm here to reassure you,
Go, and it all goes with you.
Go, and it never was here.
