Death wears a cape from the Sun,
And the Sun throws dark shadows.
Not even a volcano
Will remain a volcano,
Cold plug subducted under.
A healthy mosquito, free
Of human-killing disease
Won't quit begging me be still.
If I am still, her babies
Built of my mammalian blood
Will return to haunt this place
I'm wandering aimlessly,
Will try their luck on deer hides
Or me again, if I'm still
Alive, which seems unlikely.
The abducted minerals
The carious mines have culled,
Various holes in the ground,
Witness the way rock ages
As life dies to break it down,
And the Sun throws dark shadows.
