Time Is a Crooked Bone

As long as I don't look at it

Too long or too closely, I think

That I can just about stand it.

Resisting its own gravity

Almost successfully, it twists

With every bit of history,

Every injury, the prophet

Memory, an anxious angle,

Bent to catch that which gives way next.
