Death can seem to rattle time,
But that’s just since you begin,
Briefly, to pay attention,
And when you pay attention,
You notice clocks can’t agree,
For more than a day, on time.
It’s not death that rattles time.
It’s attentiveness that shows
How deluded counting is.
A weirder question would be,
Why proximity to death
Makes some folks pay attention?
Come on. You’re not escaping.
Humans love to wait too late.
