Maybe gravity is special.
Maybe it’s not part of the set—
Weak, strong, electromagnetic—

Maybe gravity made the set,
Makes the set, makes it possible.
Maybe gravity is nothing

You can include in any set.
Strings and loops clutter up the gap
Between the ground and the weather.

Why do we feel that this is so?
We’re not running the equations.
We sense that something is opposed

To the way the best stories go.
The weakest becomes the greatest.
The past fell out of the future.
