The night clouds arrive,
Grey tones lightly tinged with white,
Over suburbs that still glow
Around unlit lower lights.
A cat crawls through the gardens,
A shadow scaling the walls
In search of cheeping perches
As daylight flutters and falls.
In the far future, the days
Will begin and end
As now, night clouds coming in,
But there’ll be no suburbs then.
