Three Prior Poems Expressing Frustration with Storytelling

I know the things I’m supposed to know,
And other things as well,
That Mary the Mother of God
Was also called Queen of Hell,

That the newest image of
The oldest visible light
In the universe
Looks suspiciously

Like a bleary Mercator
Map of an earlier Earth,
That the best stories
Make the worst explanations.

I don’t need to know
How to tie ends in a bow.
