Doubt one’s life flashes
Before one’s eyes on the way
Down the last second
Before nothingness,
But memories keep flashing
Stroboscopically
During the drawn out
Preparations for the fall.
Forty years ago
A camp commander
Barked at counselors, “Keep it
Simple, stupid!,” pleased
With his own stupidity.
Simplicity can’t be kept.
