Stunned

I cannot bear
My daughter's eyes,
Her irises
So fathoms deep

Open ocean
Could not compare.
She's just a kid.
She laughs. She screams.

She stubs her toes,
Acts rude, annoys
Sleeping parents
At all owl hours,

And generally
Finds typical
Human offspring
Ways to behave.

But those peepers,
Jeepers! Heart breaks
Like waves on rocks,
Like rocks in waves.
