The nightmare wraps
within the ordinary
dreams of night,
which in turn appear
wrapped in the dream
of waking, filled
with the silt
of endless daydreams
and ho-hum anxieties
with which we manage
to terrorize ourselves.
No one wakes up fully,
but the dream of fully
waking can make
a temporary buddha
of anyone sane enough
to realize the dream
of not really
dreaming any
more than necessary
any
more.
