Heaven send us violations
Of causality—we need them.
One or the other has to go,
Causality or gravity,
And tempting as it is, I won’t
Risk a bet against gravity.
I am made of many defects
In the structure of the vacuum,
A creation that my body
And my language have in common,
But space-time yawns and stretches, bored.
It’s unrenormalizable,
And I’m an unreconstructed
Malcontent caught by gravity.
Screw it. Let causality fail.
Why? Why is the check in the mail.
