Song of the Sybil

Lars, penates, asuras,
Demons, heroes, demigods,
All the little helpers fail
Outside of the village hearths.
It is the end of the world
For whoever sings the end.
I have not been of service;

Neither shall I be spared, nor
Any of my familiars,
Augustine, Eusebius.
The purity of our lords,
The deepest antiquity
Of our hymns and traditions,
Short and shallow as our lives.
